My New Website

For many years my genealogy website http://fastnetweb.ie/wmcasey/ served me well. In recent times I rarely updated that site and the technology it used made regular updates difficult. A number of recent contacts prompted me to look again at the old site and as a result I developed this new website https://genealogy.fastnetweb.ie/.
Initially the contents are largely the same as the old site, with some minor updates to the information in my family trees. However, the technology will make it easier to update and means that I can expand the range of pages and services available. Now all I need is the time to develop it further and keep it up to date.

Stories of the arrest of my great-grandfather William Casey in the 1860s as a Fenian was one of the reasons why I later studied that movement. The history of the early Fenian Movement in Skibbereen was the subject of my 2016 Master’s dissertation. In 2018 that led to the publication of my first book ‘The Cradle of Fenianism’: Skibbereen and the Early Fenian Movement, 1850–67. For more information click here.
